Manufacturing Test Engineering Manager

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in Test Engineering in electronics manufacturing.
  • 5 years of experience with Test Strategy Development in Manufacturing.
  • Experience developing and integrating manufacturing test hardware using custom electronics, fixturing, and instrumentation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field.
  • 12 years of experience in Manufacturing, Quality, or Product Engineering for hardware technology and systems.
  • Experience in technical leadership, project management, and executive communication.

Google's custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable. In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you're sure it meets Google's standards of quality and reliability.

The Global Manufacturing Operations Team Mission is to implement robust manufacturing processes and quality control measures to maximize reliability and minimize environmental impact. We will foster a culture of innovation and learning to continuously enhance manufacturing processes and drive down costs. We will cultivate strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure a reliable and resilient supply chain. We are committed to provide data centers with reliable products throughout the entire life-cycle of hardware. The team will also advocate the adoption of manufacturing processes and technologies to optimize quality, deliveries, and cost.

Our Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team designs and builds the
hardware and software technologies that power all of Google's services. Our computational challenges are complex and unique, enabled by cutting-edge custom hardware designed and made in-house. As a hardware engineer, you will design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You will see those systems from concept all the way through to high-volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our data centers, affecting millions of Google users.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$245,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Apply Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) fundamentals and collaborate with teams to help them understand and apply RCCA tools and principles and analyze/understand failure to resolve issues.
  • Define and execute data collection activities for high complexity technical issues.
  • Drive process design, optimization, and qualification activities of a manufacturing process for a component, part, or product.
