Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience as a Software Engineering leader in ML Infrastructure, ML or AI for products, or related fields.
- Experience with Machine Learning Algorithms, Machine Learning, AI Algorithms, Coding, and System Design, Software Development.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working on the internals of Generative AI products, from different applied architectures (diffusion, DiT, decoder-only models) down to being able to operate at core transformer code.
- Experience in both designing offline data/training pipelines and global-scale online serving.
- Experience in content safety or threat intelligence, as applied to software products.
- Experience in Responsible AI or safety-adjacent fields, such as factuality, or product policy.

Our team combines our unique subject matter expertise in the threat intelligence and content safety domains, along with our production-grade experience in serving infrastructure and product integrations, to protect users from harm, maintain Google’s industry-wide competitiveness in online safety, and help make the internet safer for society as a whole.The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.
Responsibilities
- Safeguard business-critical products that represent significant business, market share or strategic value to Google, including GenAI-based experiences both server-side and on-device.
- Design and own the execution of business-critical projects spanning multiple engineering teams and multiple quarters.
- Bring a mix of high-scale distributed systems engineering skills, sharp product insight, and AI/machine learning experience to design, build, maintain and scale threat intelligence and content safety solutions that include rules, blocklists, heuristics, vector databases, scalable classifiers, multimodal understanding, large models, flexible UIs, and content processing pipelines. These capabilities are used by products across Google to make their users’ experiences safer.
