Accounting Manager, Google Cloud Public Sector (English)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in accounting principles, including US GAAP, IFRS and related international accounting standards, or 8 years with an advanced degree.
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, or similar).
  • Successful candidates will be required to obtain or currently possess UK Security Clearance (SC-level) to work with the customers in this sector.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently to communicate with local stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with public sector customers including open book data.
  • Experience working in a multinational or global organization.
  • Knowledge of local financial, tax, and statistical compliance requirements in the UK.
  • Excellent communication and people-management skills, with the ability to work both separately and collaboratively.

The Google International Controllership team's mission is to keep Google safe, legal and operating in each jurisdiction in which the company operates. As a member of this team you know your accounting principles and the full accounting process. You'll be responsible for the statutory financial and tax filings required by law, and you'll also manage and enhance the financial control environment - and all this sounds like fun to you.

In this role, you will be a key leader within the UK controllership team, focused on driving strong governance, ensuring financial compliance, and optimizing financial operations across Cloud public sector in the UK.

Travel up to 20% of the time domestically as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee customer billing and the annual statutory financial statements process, including managing external audits and ensuring tax compliance.
  • Coordinate and complete open book data reporting and lead regular meetings and communications with internal stakeholders and public sector customers.
  • Foster strong relationships with cross-functional teams and business partners across the region to effectively address accounting and financial tests.
  • Manage relationships with external partners (auditors, consultants) to ensure timely delivery of high-quality services. Leverage excellent communication skills to guide and influence stakeholders within and outside of finance, fostering collaboration and driving positive outcomes.
  • Provide guidance to the business on risk mitigation strategies, support decision-making, and contribute to building a scalable financial infrastructure for the region.
